RELIGION
Roman Catholicism remains the dominant religion and the religious communities (Anglican, Protestant, Muslim, Hindu, Bahaï) live in harmony. Some Voodoo practices, called «bonom di bwa» still exist.

MEDIAS
There are 2 daily newspapers Seychelles Nation and Seychelles Today, except Sunday, and 3 weekly ones, The People, Seychelles Weekly and Le Seychellois Hebdo. The newspapers carry articles in all 3 national languages. The website of the Seychelles News Agency, in French and English, is very comprehensive for both local and international news (www.seychellesnewsagency.
com).
The local TV channel SBC (Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation) broadcasts continually but retransmits CNN, BBC, Russia Today, France 24, France 2 and CGTN). TV5 Monde is also available locally. Recently, a new tv station called TeleSesel is available through the internet.
There are a few radio stations available locally too, Paradise FM (93.6 FM/Victoria -100.8 FM/ Praslin), Pure FM (90.7 FM/Victoria - 95,7 FM/ Praslin), Radio France Internationale (103.8 FM), BBC (106.2FM) and Radio Seychelles (1368 AM)

The Seychelles Public Transport Corporation SPTC runs the public transport system. A ticket costs 7 scr and is paid to the driver upon embarkation, it is best to have the right change. The ticket is for one trip irrespective of distance, and changing buses means buying another ticket. There are also air-conditioned buses, and consequently ticket costs 15 scr.

 

OPENING TIME
Banks are generally open from 8.30 am to 2 or 2.30pm during the week and closed before 12.00
noon on saturdays. The Post Offices are open from 8 am till 3.45pm during the week and till 11.45am
on Saturdays. Petrol stations open at 6 am every day and have varying closing times, between 7pm
in the countryside and 11 pm in town. They close slightly earlier on Sundays.
